The Breast Lump Dismissed as “Hormonal”

Lata, 29, found a small, movable lump in her left breast during a shower. Her gynecologist said it was likely fibrocystic change and advised waiting. But she felt uneasy. A second opinion led to an ultrasound, then a biopsy. It was triple-negative breast cancer.

We began aggressive neoadjuvant chemotherapy, followed by surgery and radiation.

She responded well, and three years later, remains in remission. Her initiative saved her life.


The Lesson Learned

Trust your patients’ instincts. Young age doesn’t exclude cancer—evaluate every lump with appropriate imaging and urgency.
