The Toddler With a White Reflex

Three-year-old Rehaan was brought in for “crossed eyes.” His parents had just noticed a white reflex in one of his photos. I performed a dilated fundus exam and saw the telltale sign—a chalky white mass with feeder vessels.

It was retinoblastoma. We arranged urgent enucleation, and his life was saved.

His vision may be compromised—but he’s alive to see the world with his remaining eye.
